About Eat Run Thrive

Hi there! I’m Laura Horvat, a nutrition educator, running coach, and certified personal trainer with a passion for helping people live healthier lives, and the founder of Eat Run Thrive Coaching LLC.

As you might guess, I really like running. But that wasn’t always the case. I didn’t grow up running cross country, and I dreaded the days that we ran the mile in gym class. Fast-forward to my early twenties, and I found myself working long hours in a corporate role and feeling lost without organized sports. Running seemed like the most convenient way to get more active - and so it began. I wasn’t fast and I couldn’t go far, but I started to enjoy my time on the run. Many years later, I've kept running because I fell in love with it: the community; the endorphins; the fulfillment in chipping away at big goals; the mental outlet.

Along the way, my interest in overall health and wellness has also grown. I firmly believe that good nutrition is at the root of good health, and this ultimately pushed me to pause my corporate career and pursue higher education in the field of nutrition. Today, I hold a Master of Science (MS) in Nutrition Education, a RRCA Level 2 run coaching certification, and am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer.

Through Eat Run Thrive Coaching, I aim to help runners and non-runners alike. Everyone can benefit from eating well, whether your goal is improved performance or a generally healthy life. I specialize in coaching novice and intermediate runners who are looking to tackle a half or full marathon, but all levels and goals are welcome. Online coaching also allows me to work with clients all over the US. I’m currently based in Charlotte, North Carolina - let me know if you’re local!

My philosophy:

  • To thrive is to grow. Growth requires the ongoing pursuit of meaningful goals.

  • Training plans and dietary choices are very personal. What works for you may not be ideal for your best friend, mom, or running partner.

  • All foods can fit into a healthy diet. Some foods are more nutritious than others and should be emphasized and eaten more often. Don’t overcomplicate it.

  • Restrictive diets are destructive. If you’re looking for a “quick fix” or are solely focused on weight loss, I’m not your gal.

  • Whether you run 5 miles per week or 50, you’re a runner. Runners of all levels can benefit from a focused training plan and a personal cheerleader.

  • Quality matters. More is not always better.

I look forward to helping you achieve your goals!

-Laura
